Wishing

When I was a little boy, I would sit on my Mother’s lap and say, “Ma, I wish I was an astronaut, so I could fly into space.” She would reply “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.”
It took me a long time to understand this depression era wisdom. Someone told me to make a wish this morning. I decided to get to work instead. No one is coming to bail you out. There is no free lunch, someone has to pay for it.
God helps those who help themselves.
Happy Friday!

Three

Not exalting the gifted prevents quarreling.
Not collecting treasures prevents stealing.
Not seeing desirable things prevents confusion of the heart.

The wise therefore rule by emptying hearts and stuffing bellies,
By weakening ambitions and strengthening bones.
If people lack knowledge and desire,
Then intellectuals will not try to interfere.
If nothing is done, then all will be well.
